I received the official letter from SSDI on my benefits yesterday and reality kicked in! First let me say that I deeply appreciate everyone for assisting and getting this major accomplishment in record time. That being said, it hit me when I received the letter!
I opened one of my closets and said what I do with all this clothes. Over the years I have accumulated at least 150 shirts, 100 or so sweaters, about 30 suits and let’s not mention shoes. Rob and I spoke and yes he can wear some of this stuff and I of course can also for some functions. But what to do with the majority of this clothes?
First we thought we could sell it for almost nothing to consignment shops or maybe give it away to a charity like Goodwill, they are everywhere down here. Some we could and already started giving to family. But ultimately we decided to have a spring yard sale with the balance going to charity.
I can't say it will be easy. I have memories with every piece of garment I have and every time I depart with something emotions run high. But being disabled and not moving around much I can't see all of this clothes hanging around not being used
Some of these garments cost me lots of money! They were purchased when I had money. It's only proper that I either give them away for almost nothing to someone who will appreciate it. Dam, I hate when reality kicks in!
